Gianluca Garofalo
My name is Gianluca Garofalo and I was born on 6th July 1968. I attended art high school, continuing to observe my father’s work very closely. At eighteen I moved to Perugia, where I planned to graduate as a vet and work as a “country doctor”, but after five years I was bored enough to return to Rome. As for animals, I preferred to capture their essence (a large claim, yet in a certain sense it is visible) rather than treat their ailments. I was enrolled in the architecture faculty. At the same time, I have always studied to become a professional illustrator.
Nowadays I have got my own studio.
In 2000 I has been selected to take part in the ILLUSTRATORS EXHIBITION of CHILDRENS BOOKFAIR in Bologna, both in the FICTION section and in the NON FICTION section, when I had the pleasure of seeing the cover of the catalogue assigned to me. I’ve collaborated with some publishers, parks, companies and professional studios. I’ve worked as a designer, graphic designer and CAD drawer in some architecture’s studios.
I collaborate with several schools, giving workshops of visual perception, drawing and children’s illustration.
What do you love about Borciani e Bonazzi brushes?
I especially appreciate the quality of the synthetic fibre of the Borciani e Bonazzi brushes, it is excellent and the functionality is excellent. In particular, the Hidro fibre of Unico Infinito, a large reservoir and a great tip. Very satisfying!
