From Città Alta, the Festival moves to a new enchanting location: the Castle of Clanezzo. The Castle will be entirely at the disposal of Artefestival Storie ad Acquerello, for a perfect blend of art and culture.

The September festival returns, hosting illustrators, storytellers, artists, and watercolor enthusiasts in the evocative setting of Bergamo's Città Alta.

As every year, we are honored to be the technical partner of the event.

You will find us with our range of brushes, which you can purchase to give free rein to your creativity. You can test them, ask for information, details, and curiosities.

This Year, However, We Have Decided to Do More for the Storie ad Acquerello 2024 Festival

We have organized two workshops with our product technician, Raffaella Barbieri, who will guide you in discovering and learning the secrets of dedicating yourself to this ancient art in a contemporary form.

In these workshops, you will be provided with a set of brushes to work with. Raffaella will guide you step by step in discovering the marks, strokes, and technical secrets to perfecting your skills.

To allow Raffaella to carefully guide each participant, only 20 registrations are allowed for each workshop.

On Saturday, September 28, and Sunday, September 29, you can find us in Bergamo at the Storie ad Acquerello ArteFestival!

And in our Atelier, you can have an exciting experience!

"Create Your Brush": Workshop at Storie ad Acquerello 2024

Under the expert guidance of our artisans, the audience will have the opportunity to create the head of a brush, learn the techniques, and discover the technical characteristics of the materials.

This unique moment allows participants to uncover the secrets of this production phase and connect with the true essence of this tool, often seen as an extension of the artist's hand.

Each session lasts 15 minutes, and booking is required.

Watercolor in the hands of the artist becomes a tool of narration.

It's a way to tell stories through the play of water and color. Images that depict worlds of fantasy and reality. Abstract and concrete.

The lightness of the gesture, the nuances, and the transparencies transform into emotions for the observer. Illustrations become gateways to marvelous worlds.

Different techniques and materials come together and blend to create the illustration of a character.

The brush is the tool we use to create our artwork: watercolor pencils, gouache, and watercolor, a blend of techniques that require elastic filaments with slow release to control the color and create contrasting fields.

Raffaella is an artist, set designer, trainer, decorator, and visual expert, specializing in various painting techniques with a deep knowledge of Borciani and Bonazzi products, a historic Italian manufacturer of fine art brushes since 1951.

Storie ad Acquerello 2024: Location Details

This year, the festival moves to Clanezzo Castle, taking place on Saturday, September 28, and Sunday, September 29!


Built between the 10th and 12th centuries, the Castle features extensive outdoor spaces and numerous indoor rooms, each made unique by various frescoes on the walls and ceilings. This is where the courses, demos, workshops, and marketplace will be held.

We'll be in a prestigious historical and cultural setting where leading artists in the field will add their color and style to rooms with a magical atmosphere.

The Festival will span two days, Saturday, September 28th, and Sunday, September 29th, packed with events: workshops, demonstrations, artist meetings, and exhibitions of watercolor and illustration.

The event is open to everyone and organized by illustrator Laura Cortinovis, who has worked as a freelance illustrator for Italian and international publishers and brands for years, in collaboration with the Cultural Association Spazio Cam, based in Bergamo’s arts center.

Momarte, one of Italy’s most renowned fine arts e-stores, is present as the official partner.

The event is sponsored by some of the most well-known companies in the international art scene. It will also be an opportunity for the large Community following Icoloridilaura on social media to meet.

Entry to the event and exhibitions is free. Workshops, demonstrations, and conferences are for adults and teenagers aged 16 and over.

You can visit the exhibitions, stroll through the stands of leading industry companies where you can watch demonstrations and try out tools and materials.

There will also be a bookstore with the artists' books featured at the festival and a space dedicated to book signings. Workshops, demonstrations, and conferences require payment.



Storie ad Acquerello Artefestival: Program and Previous Editions

Storie ad Acquerello Artefestival is the first Italian festival dedicated to watercolor expressed through illustration.


It takes place in Bergamo and was conceived in 2021 by Laura Cortinovis, a Bergamo-based illustrator, with the pioneering idea of introducing a festival in Italy that combines watercolor with illustration.

This innovative showcase aims to create a festival that serves as a hub for discussion and exchange, fostering a network of relationships and collaborations.

The first three editions unfolded in prestigious venues across Bergamo, such as Seminarino, Spazio Cam, Circolino Città Alta, Accademia Carrara, Ex Carcere di Sant’Agata, and Orto Botanico di Bergamo. The festival promotes events and workshops featuring internationally renowned artists and prominent figures in illustration and publishing, author meetings, demos, conferences, and exhibitions.

Illustrators Giovanni Manna and Gianluca Garofalo, among other prestigious names, have participated in past editions of the festival.

In the 2023 edition partecipated:

to Giovanni Manna, Sonia Maria Luce Possentini, and Alessandro Manna. The roster of participating artists included Antonio Bonanno, Cecilia Boschi, Mirti Bertagna, Alice Caldarella, Cecilia Cavallini, Laura Cortinovis, Daniela Costa, Marina Cremonini, Ericavale Morello, Roberta Favia, Letizia Iannaccone, Assia Ieradi, Margherita Leoni, Laura Manaresi, Valentina Maselli, Eleonora Pace, Anna Paolini, Daniela Pareschi, Paolo Proietti, Richolly Rosazza, Valentina Scagnolari, Ilaria Urbinati, Francesca Dafne Vignaga, and Giorgio Volpe.

The festival is organized by illustrator Laura Cortinovis (who has collaborated with Borciani e Bonazzi for many years), SpazioCam cultural association, and MomArte.

The latest edition featured 28 artists, 23 workshops, 2 conferences, and 2 demonstrations. All events were sold out within a few days.

Approximately 300 people participated in the events, with over 2000 visiting the marketplace and exhibitions. The first three editions of the festival have seen tremendous public success.

The festival is aimed at an adult audience, attracting visitors from all over Italy and abroad who share a keen interest and passion for watercolor and illustration. The event has been covered by major local and national media outlets.
